He noticed his goats dancing with energy after munching on bright red cherries from an unfamiliar tree. Intrigued, Kaldi tasted the cherries himself and felt a sudden burst of vitality. His discovery soon spread, reaching monks who used the beans to create a drink that kept them awake during long prayers. And just like that—coffee was born.
